2007 Gray whale & Blue whale trip itineraries
Please
email us for 2008 trip itineraries. We have not updated
this page for 2008 |
| These
itineraries are only samples of what we expect to do and to see each
day. We vary the trips as necessary to meet the changing conditions
that nature presents us with. Animal behaviors change and we
adjust accordingly. At certain times of the year tourist presence
may make a specific observation area less desirable and we would adjust
accordingly. These trips take place outside in an uncontrolled
environment. Weather is a factor that must always be considered,
although it seldom interrupts our trips. |
Please
read the itineraries carefully as they describe not only what we expect
to do each day, but also they tell you how each different type of
trip is accessed. All itineraries are subject to change at our
sole discretion to meet local conditions.

The only company in the world who
ever offered a money back guarantee that clients would have the
opportunity to pet (touch) a wild whale. |
These
trips involve interaction with wild animals; really big wild animals.
They are not trained. We don't feed them to get them to come
closer. Their interaction with us is entirely voluntary and
is always initiated by the whale. Our guides and boat drivers
are highly experienced with many years of experience working with
these whales. A relaxed attitude and willingness to experience
each moment as it unfolds around you is sure to enhance any animal
encounter experience. |

for a day of whale watching. Our destination is the newest observation
area located in the c enter of the Lagoon. Here we can even watch
whales playing and jumping while we eat lunch. This is a quiet and
undeveloped area of the lagoon.
Day #7: Following breakfast there will be time for a morning
whale watching trip to the area closest to the lagoon entrance. Deeper
water means more breaching whales are normally seen here. Following
the whale watching you will transfer back to Loreto for the evening.

together before heading out to the airport to fly home. |

Itinerary
for 5 day drive down trips
Gray whales at Laguna Ojo de Liebre
Day #1:Leave the border bright and early. Travel to Guerrero Negro,
arrive in the afternoon. We make a great lunch stop near the remote
village of Catavina. There we will have the opportunity to visit an
interesting ancient cave painting site. A short three hour drive gets
us to our destination. After getting situated in our rooms we meet
for an orientation talk by our own Baja Jones.
Day #2:Meet for breakfast and then travel to the lagoon where
we will spend the day whale watching, lunch will be served by the
friendly Baja Jones crew. Then weather permitting a second trip out
onto the lagoon will be in order. Dinner tonight is a private bar-b-que
at the Baja Jones residence so that we can provide an in depth discussion
about the Gray Whales.
Day #3 : Meet for breakfast. Today we venture to the outer lagoon.
We expectto see more mating adults, possibly closer views of breaching
and fewer babies. Afterwards we will relax at Marios Palapa while
enjoying a truly nice meal. Margarita's, carne asada, guacamole and
a nice sunset will end another exciting day of whale watching. Time
permitting those who aren't too tired can take an interesting ride
to El Faro(the lighthouse)for birdwatching and sight seeing.
Day #4 : Today we journey to the newest observation area, just
opened in 2004. Still undeveloped and undiscovered by most
whale watchers. This area is reminiscent of whale watching 20
years ago. A really great location.
Day #5 : All good trips eventually end. And so will ours. This
is our travel back to the U.S. day. We'll leave early and arrive in
the USA mid- afternoon, depending on the border crossing. Expected
arrival time is 5:00 PM. |
5
day fly in to Loreto
gray whales at
Laguna Ojo de Liebre
Day # 1 :You will arrive in the afternoon. This trip is designed
for us to meet the Aero California flight that arrives about 2:30
PM. Tonight you will stay at a quaint seaside hotel located on the
Malecone in Loreto. After getting situated in our rooms we meet for
an orientation talk and dinner.
Day #2 :This morning we travel across the peninsula a bit over
4 hours to LagunaOjo de Liebre. We will schedule things to arrive
at the shore about noon time. You will then get to do your first exciting
whale watching trip. Tonight well bar-b-q at the Baja Jones
residence and talk about whales while drinking the best margaritas
in town.
Day #3 :Meet for breakfast. Following breakfast we head out for
a day of whale watching. Two trips, one in the morning and one after
lunch will fill your day with whales. Lunch will be served picnic
style at the lagoon.
Day #4 : We venture out to the newest observation area today.
Just opened to the public for the 2004 season this exciting area is
relatively remote and wild in appearance. Frequently we have the entire
body of water as far as we can see to ourselves. This very light whale
watching pressure is unheard of at any other observation area anywhere
in Mexico. Following our morning whale watching and lunch on the shore
of the lagoon, your group will return to the motel, pack and then
drive over to spend the evening in Loreto.
Day #5 : All good trips eventually end. And so will ours. Today
is departure day. We will assist you to the airport or with other
arrangements if you have made them. For
this trip you will make your own flight arrangements to
fly into and out of Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico.
Several airlines including Alaska Airlines, Aero California &
Aero Mexico fly to this airport. We will meet you at the airport
and from there on handle all the details |
5 day Itinerary
Blue Whales of Loreto
Day 1: We meet you at the Loreto International airport.
Once you have been cleared through immigration youre in
our hands. First stop is the hotel. Well give you an opportunity
to freshen up and then take a relaxing stroll through downtown
Loreto. Dinner tonight will be at the hotel restaurant. There
well give an orientation talk and prepare you for the excitement
to come.
Day 2: Today we begin our whale watching quest.
We leave dock around 8:00 A.M. to be on the water early before
the afternoon wind kicks up. Were all sure to be filled
with excitement and anticipation as the boat slowly motors out
and we begin searching the surface for a whale spout in the distance.
With luck well spot our first whale early and the real fun
will begin. Lunch will be served picnic style on the shore of
one of the many rugged offshore islands. Then if the wind hasnt
picked up too much we should have time to seek out more whale
encounters before heading back to shore. The remainder of the
day is unstructured. Some people will want to spend the afternoon
lazing in the warm sun, enjoying the sun, sand and sea.
Day
3 & 4: On each of our three whale watching days,
our morning routine will be the same. In the afternoons when we
have returned to shore youll have your choice of lazing
the afternoon away or joining your Baja Jones staff as we explore
the town and surrounding shore line. There is a small museum
well certainly check out. Many interesting shops to search
out that perfect souvenir.
Day 5: Today is return to Civilization day. At
breakfast today well say our good byes as each member of
our small group heads off to their home. Well arrange to
get you to the airport for your particular departure time.

Special
notes:
For fly in to Loreto trips, either the blue whale, the gray whale
or the combination trips you will make your own air reservations.
The air transport to and from Baja is not included in the trip price.
We will provide you airline phone numbers and suggest which flights
you may want to use. We meet you at the airport in Loreto, Baja California
Sur, Mexico.
